Hear a Concert in the Church that Inspired Amazing Grace

Gain a better appreciation for the history of the area near your Charleston property through music. Come on out to historic Circular Congregational Church to hear a variety of sounds that have shaped Charleston throughout its colorful history. Guests can hear Civil War songs, jazz, gospel, spirituals, Gullah, and Gershwin. Experience spirituals of slaves who passed through the port in Charleston and imagine sitting around a campfire while fighting in the Civil War and singing songs with your buddies to pass the time. Hear songs from both sides that include Amazing Grace and Pachelbel’s Canon. John Newton actually was inspired to write the words to Amazing Grace while worshipping in Circular Congregational Church. Other selections include music from “Porgy and Bess,” which George Gershwin composed in this city.

Charleston Property Owners Experience the City in Music

Many performances are available each month and tickets can be purchased at any Charleston Visitor Center, by calling 800.838.3006, or at the door starting at 6:30 p.m. the night of the concert.
