Curator of the Charleston Museum, Martha Zierden presents an informative afternoon on the dining habits of generations past. Taking place on March 3rd from 4 to 5:30 p.m. participants gather in the back garden and work yard of the Heyward-Washington House. Martha Zierden will discuss the habits of enslaved persons living in Charleston in years past and their work habits. Much of the meal preparation for the residents of the colonial homes took place in the work yard with many artifacts discovered at the Heyward-Washington House. A highlight of the lecture focus on the beverages of the times.

Charleston Property Owners Will Enjoy the Tour of the Heyward-Washington House

At the completion of the talk, a tour of the Heyward-Washington House will take place. During this part of the event guests will be able to browse a special exhibit showcasing the elegant wine glasses and gentlemen’s bottles of the age.

Time during the afternoon will be set aside for Martha Zierden to sign copies of her latest book, Charleston: An Archaeology Of Life In A Coastal Community.
